Hubris Building
117 South Gay Street
Hubris Building
Built in the early 1900s on the 100 block of South Gay Street in Downtown Knoxville, the Hubris Building keeps a charming secret from the casual passerby. From the front, it appears to be only two stories, but an inspection from behind reveals it to be a four-story structure. The Gay Street Viaduct, constructed in 1919 over the nearby Southern Railway Tracks, now hides the original lower level storefronts from view. After completion in mid-2018, the totally refurbished Hubris Building will boast 4 apartments, 4 townhouses, and 3 retail spaces.
